I had the opportunity to visit Puerto Rico this summer. During my time in Puerto Rico, I went zip lining at Toro Verde in Orocovis. Toro Verde is 90-minutes Southwest of San Juan in Puerto Rico's Central Mountain directly in the middle of the island. The zip lines at Toro Verde are the longest in the Americas. The regular zip lines in this course range from 800 feet to 2,526 feet long. At first, I was really scared but by the end I even conquered La Bestia, The Beast, the world's third longest single run zipline which is 4,745 feet long, 843 feet high, and whizzes you along at speeds of 60 miles per hour. These are pictures of my ziplining experience, including the Beast where I was laying down. I might mention that to add an extra thrill I got stuck about 100 yards from the end and had to be rescued by the guide. I was completely petrified, but in the end, it was a great new and exhilarating experience.
I also toured Old San Juan. We explored two old forts that protect the city: Fort San Cristobal and Fort El Morro. The forts have been standing for nearly 500 years. The forts were amazing to walk around and reflect that they have been standing for so long. On display were real articfacts such as cannons and cannonballs. There were even a few iguanas lying around, which was extra cool. Here are some photos of this wonderful experience.
